Bush Plans to Move to Historically Whites-Only Neighborhood

Dallas, you are really out of line this time! I’m warning you.

After finishing off his presidency, G.W. Bush plans on moving to the billionaire-infested Preston Hollow neighborhood.

In a perhaps unwitting expression of his values, Bush chose a neighborhood with a documented fifty-year history of white prejudice.

From Raw Story:

Until 2000, the neighborhood association’s covenant said only white people were allowed to live there, though an exception was made for servants.

Enacted in 1956, part of the original document reads: “Said property shall be used and occupied by white persons except those shall not prevent occupancy by domestic servants of different race or nationality in the employ of a tenant.”

I guess the good people of Preston Hollow could only bear to look upon the visage of a black person if that person was a lowly servant, and not a class equal. Interesting.

More recently:

In 2006, Preston Hollow Elementary School achieved notoriety after a lawsuit claiming the school’s class-assignment policies violated the 1952 Supreme Court Brown v. Board of Education decision. Judge Sam Lindsay ruled in November that the school’s practices were not legal because they attempted to keep white students together even if minority students had to be placed in inappropriate courses

Well, this is a tradition that the Bush family is happy to join. On some basic level, they do not mind (literally and figuratively) buying into a community of such shocking racial values. Enough said, I guess.

  1. Drove by it yesterday, seriously.

Ross Perot will be his neighbor – they can clear brush and make fun of W’s dad together.
